Dry Spell Persists in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 2 (KCNA) — Drought has continues in the DPRK for a long time with 23.5 mm rainfall from mid-February to April 30 across the country, 35 percent of the yearly average rainfall of 83 mm or the lowest one since 1982.
Light rain was witnessed in some parts of the country between April 26 and 28, with 4 mm in Pyongyang and South Phyongan Province and 7-13 mm in North and South Hwanghae provinces.
According to a weather forecast expert, the dry spell will linger on in most parts of the country, including the coastal and central inland areas, till early May.
The drought has inflicted damage on several thousand hectares of earlier crops like wheat, barley and potato across the country.
Now, a campaign for overcoming damage has been conducted throughout the country.
